G is for Gecko!

Last year this time, we were trying to nurse a sick Gecko back to health. Giving calcium injections and force feedings. Go here to read about that interesting experience.  Unfortunatley that didn't work as well as we had hoped. Throughout the process, however, we learned a lot about the special needs of lizards.
This year...we are giving it another try.

Jonathan took his birthday money to Petsmart ...
and found this little gecko....he (or she) is very cute and super friendly!

A new friend is always fun....even when it is a lizard!
Enjoying the wonder that I see in this photo....it totally makes me smile!
Happy Thursday!

Today is alphabe-Thursday again. To read more "G" posts, head on over to Jenny Matlock's blog!
And thanks for stopping by here!

  7. What a good mom. To love your kids and try to nurse a sick Gecko back to health.

PS. I love your statement. I enjoy coffee with my creamer. :) My hubby always makes fun of me over that same love.

  8. I'm not normally fond of slimy things, but this one is cute! But, hey, I'm looking at it from the safety of my computer screen! ;)

Looks like Jonathan is having a great time with his new pet. We had hermit crabs a couple of years ago, and that's about as adventurous as I hope we get :p

  13. What a fun pet! We are trying to nurse JDaniel's worms. They hate being in a compost box.

  14. I've never seen a gecko other than a green one. Yours is cool! When we lived in Hawaii the guys all used to like having the gecko latch onto their ears and they'd wear them like earrings. I always wondered how that didn't hurt.

  17. i am a pre-k teacher and have had geckos in my classroom for the last 5 years, until this year. My last gecko went blind and I had to hand feed him everyday. I must say it was a battle to feed him/her each day. When he passed I decided that next year it will be goldfish. I love to have animals in my room so my students can learn to take care of them. Maybe in a couple of years I will get another because I really like them.
