B is for "Bullet"...as in Magic!

We got it for Christmas 2 years ago! The Magic Bullet! We used it a few times, then put it up in the pantry. What were we thinking. It is wonderful for making smoothies. Lately we have been leaving it out on our counter where it is easy to get to and available for use.
I bought several bags of frozen fruit, like strawberries, blueberries and peaches. It is best to let them thaw a little before adding them in with some yogurt and milk. Easy and delicious....and super good for you too.
My favorite smoothie right now is the Peanut butter, Banana and Jelly smoothie!
A couple of spoons of plain or vanilla yogurt, 1/2 banana, a few fresh or frozen berries, and a spoon full of peanut butter. Blend until smooth!
Anyone making smoothies with veges? I want to try some Spinach? Any suggestions?
Enjoy your day!

  1. I love smoothies. I make mine with kefir and any fruit that might be in season. Your recipe sounds interesting too. Never tried a smoothie with peanut butter, maybe I should.

  2. We have a bullet too...I love that the kids can use it themselves, getting them to clean up after themselves, a little more difficult!

  3. I have been making green smoothies. I put in spinach, frozen bananas and strawberries, some mango if I have it, and a little milk. Yum.

  8. I'm on my last day of a 21 day cleanse... 1st 10 days were nothing but fruits and veggies and fiber...plus lots of water, of course. And then for the last 11 you can add in fish or chicken. OK, I know it sounds horrible, but truth is, I FEEL GREAT!! I've blended some odd things, but also some really good ones. Cucumber, spinach and grapefruit. Deelish. Carrots, strawberries and snap peas. Awesome. No magic bullet for me, but love love love my vitamix blender!

  9. we have a smoothie we call the 'green goddess' in our house - no milk/yogurt at all ... it's just water, ice, fresh green kale, frozen mango chunks, a banana, and little honey or agave nectar if you prefer a sweeter taste - it's truly delicious and so so SO good for you - and literally the only way I'd ever get my kids to eat kale!!! Try it! I have a question for you ... how loud is the magic bullet? I have my eyes on it, but I also have a pet peeve for super noisy blenders ...

  10. We have been making smoothies too. There are so many recipes on the internet, but we end up just throwing whatever we have in it. Our secret ingredient is pineapple juice. That's how we make it less thick. Always so good. A magic bullet huh?

  12. I love smoothies, but get lazy and don't make them often enough. A pb&j smoothie sounds SO good!

The last one I made had banana, vanilla yogurt, and coffee in it. It was yummy.

I have never added the spinach, but I think you should go for it. I bet the other things mask the flavor. Not that it would be bad, but I think the sweetness of everything else would hide it, but you would still get so much nutrition from it.

  13. I put more banana and no yogurt in order to avoid the dairy component but still have thickness and I do add veggies. I put two recipes in a post a while back: http://bluegrassnotes.wordpress.com/2011/10/27/all-those-fruits-and-veggies/ You really just taste the fruit. Lately I've also been adding beets and changing the apple cider/orange juice ratio.

  14. I make a peanut butter and banana smoothie every morning. I really should try mixing it up! I have the Walmart (cheaper) version of the bullet...and I love it. Sure makes cleanup easy! I am going to try a pb & j one tomorrow! :)

  15. You can add spinach to most any fruit and create a green smoothie! My hubby likes to use kale and parsley too. But parsley can only be taken in very small quantities because it has so many vitamins. We use cabbage and carrots with parsley. It is healthy. We have a Jack LaLanne juicer and a Montel Williams Living Well. Lots of good combinations. I like your post and always wondered about the Magic Bullet. Thanks for the great share! Enjoy your weekend!

  16. I usually do just fruit, usually a blueberry for me and mixed fruit for my daughter ...

  17. Your favorite smoothie is one of my husband's favorites. We wore out our Bullet, and went to a hand held blender that works very well. I didn't like peanut butter in with my fruit until I made myself think of a PB&J sandwich - then I could drink it. Now I enjoy it!

  19. Hi Jen! That looks like a yummy smoothie.

I think there are a lot of recipe online for this. My daughter and my sister both have them and love them and I know they make a lot of the veggie shakes.

This sounds like everyone is going to be healthier at your house!

Thanks for a beautifully tasty post.

    A+
