Some of you may recognize this place as Chic-fil-A! It is our very favorite fast food restaurant and one of the best companies for teenagers to work for. And...they are closed on Sundays!
Emily went through an extensive interview process (group, phone and personal) to get the job...and funny thing is...my husband knows the owner! After the interview process, the new training class was hired, pending graduation from the Chic-fil-A training program, which lasted several weeks. At the last class, they held "Graduation" where every new employee received a table of gifts that expressed something about them....and their name tag!
These were her gifts...a volleyball, of course, sunglasses, bangles, a flip flop candle, and candy!
Isn't that just so much fun!
These are the only pics I have been able to take so far.
And you should know that I got into HUGE trouble for taking these and embarrassing her!
Although, I thought it was hysterical when I heard another girl say,
"My Mom did it too, Emily!"
She has learned a lot already about herself...and about people in general.
She is only able to work 12 hours per week...and she averages about 8. She also cannot work past 7 pm. And remember I said "they are closed on Sundays", so she still has time for all the other teenager stuff that she needs and enjoys!
She has gotten several paychecks...she spent the first 3 on clothes. Now she is ready to start saving and maybe even get a debit card...Oh my! We will need another training class before we get to that!
We are very excited to see her working in a place that values the family and we are excited about what she is learning at such a young age.
I know some of you have never been to a Chic-fil-A. While you are vacationing this summer, be on the lookout! I'd love to know what you think.
Have a great day!

I'm so glad Emily is enjoying her new job!! I love LOVE Chick-Fil-A. The closest one is 35 miles away and we only get to go when we're by ourselves since Kyle is allergic the peanut oil. Their breakfasts are awesome!
ReplyDeleteGood for Emily!
ReplyDeleteTwo words:
Waffle fries.
Enough said.
First of all. A FLIP FLOP CANDLE. I am sooooo jealous.
ReplyDeleteGot to love those first jobs.
Wow, they certainly go the extra mile to make a new employee feel at home!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! What a great experience!!!
Way cool! My big girl would be happy to work at Chic fila. There are soooo few jobs available for teens now days. She's applied at Target, ice cream parlor, movie theater, book store, etc...but hasn't had any luck yet.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome!! Congrats, to your big girl!!!
ReplyDeleteWe love Chick-fil-a! Joey's first job was at Baskin Robbins. He really built some muscles in his arms, digging that ice cream out. When he went away to college, his boss hated to see him leave!
ReplyDeleteWonderful! It's so nice to get a job where family is important. My son's first job was at McDonald's, and I'm not real thrilled with how they were with late hours.
ReplyDeletewe don't have that chain where I live but what an awesome place to work!
ReplyDeleteI've been to Chick-Fil-A. What a good idea about the training and graduation. Make them feel they've accomplished something. Sounds like a good place for teenagers to work! {:-Deb
ReplyDeleteShe is so cute. What a great company for her to work for. We love Chick Fil A! I laughed about you taking her picture at work, I figured she was embarrassed! lol. :))
ReplyDeleteGood for your daughter - that first job, for a decent company, will set a standard for her,
ReplyDeleteI've never been to a Chic-fil-A but I'll look for one when we're south of the border.
That is AWESOME! Love the personalized gifts. WOW! Is that just this CFA or all of them?
ReplyDeleteSo...do they teach her to say, "My pleasure" in her training class? ;)
Congrats, Emily!!!
I wish we had a company like this for Eldest. We too are thinking about what J-O-B would be suitable.

We're going there today for lunch...the Grands love the play area. I love their salads and lemonade!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a neat post! I'm glad she's finding her way in the world.
And how wonderful that they gave them a graduation and all the thoughtful little gifts to start them on their way to success!
Thanks for the smile.
