E is for Every year...and Empty-handed.

Every year for the past 7 years....our little elementary school has held a Fall Festival!
This year was a little different...only because one of our 3 has officially outgrown it!
I guess when you enter High School, it is no longer acceptable to be seen at the Elementary School. Hmmm.
The mall with friends was more acceptable, of course!

Therefore...we headed to the festival with the boys....
There was so much to do...they really didn't seem to notice that Emily wasn't with us!
Test your strength!
Corn Hole!
Pick your prize!
Treat Walk....as opposed to Cake Walk!
Gladiator!
Or "Whack a kid"...happy for the helmet!
More Gladiator...notice no helmet and no glasses...Good thinking!

The biggest fundraiser for this event involves the raffle tickets
sold for these awesome baskets.
There are about 12 themed baskets from "Wanna Win a Wii" to "Shop 'til you drop!"
Each basket contains items and gift cards that are donated by parents
and members of the community...as well as local business owners.
These are the baskets that we really wanted.
Jonathan wanted the Sports themed basket with lots of goodies
+ $100 Dicks gift card and $150 Walmart gift card!
Zac wanted the Lego Mania basket with mucho Legos and $100 to Lego Land and Target!
No...we didn't win. We wish we would've.
Emily won a "Crafty" basket once....the very first year,
but as for us...we left empty-handed! :(

There is always next year.. and the year after that... and the year after that!
'Cause we'll come back every year..for a few more years anyway!
Enjoy your day!

Today, we celebrate the letter "E"!

  3. Those baskets looks awesome...phooey for not winning one of them. Glad that you all have a great time there every year, though. Great pictures of the fun!!

  4. That looks like so much fun. Our schools here in Canada don't have fund raisers like that!! What a great idea.

I went with the princesses to their school opening and all they sold were hotdogs and school shirts.

Glad you had a great time (even without Emily) but it is so sad that you didn't win a basket.

  12. The baskets looks amazing. My old school used to do these too. I was empty handed every year.

  13. Wow. Your school carnival kicks my kids school carnival in the bum. We also have auction baskets at the school carnival. We've won a couple, but none that are as amazing as "Win a Wii."
    Fun times!

  15. Fall Festival here is on the 30th. Way too late this year. Those baskets are amazing! We do baskets for a Silent Auction around the holidays. Did the "Wanna Win a Wii" basket really have a Wii? WOW!

  18. I'm going to have to use your suggestion. . .a parents weapon, boredom! I think it might just work. They will get that glazed look in their eye and their mouths will drop open slighty. . .I'm already excited!:)

The fall fest looks like fun. . .The lego basket is a great idea!

  19. Oh my gosh...so fun. Love the basket ideas....I have to come up with one for our schools silent auction, so I'm going to have to squelch some ideas off of yours.
Now that Gladiator game (what a kid) ouch! Even with the helmet. Let's just rename that to undo 2 years and $8,000.00 worth of orthodontics.

  20. Your darling post reminds me of a quote:
There is vitality, a life force, energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action. And because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique and if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and be lost. The world will not have it.
It is not your business to determine how good it is, nor how valuable, nor how it compares to other expressions. It is your business to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware directly to the urges that activate you.
    Keep the channel open.

  22. Sorry about the test post. I wrote three different comments and then each time blogger wouldn't accept them.

    So...

I really enjoyed this post. I had never seen the raffle baskets until last year with our youngest Grands preschool...I'm sorry you didn't win a basket because those look totally amazing.

This looks like such a fun event. I can see why you wouldn't want to give it up!

    Thanks for linking to Alphabe-Thursday.

    A+
