How to "Make a Classic" ....pound cake, that is!

Once again, we have made a small adjustment to the summer list!
We were suppossed to read a classic.   I hate to say, we didn't get to that one. The kids are almost finished with their required summer reading, but none of those were true classics!

One "classic" that we have enjoyed for many years is Aunt Karen's Pound Cake.
Anytime we get together with David's brother, Michael, and his wife, Karen, we strongly suggest or happily request that Aunt Karen make her classic pound cake!
This weekend, they came into town for a visit.  Aunt Karen thought it might be fun if she brought the "top secret" recipe and taught David (the wanna be baker) how to make it!
She is smart, huh? Now whenever we ask...she'll be able to say ......well, you know what she'll be able to say!  Like I said, Smart thinking!

This is what it looks like to learn to make a "classic."

Doesn't that look yummy?

Maybe one day I'll be able to share the top secret recipe.
For now...I have been forbidden!
I kinda like it that way!

Enjoy the week!
10 more days 'til school starts!

  1. OK...that is SOOO not fair! That looks so yummy and no recipe?!?!? I love that it's baked in a bundt (or is that an Angel food cake) pan too. Can you at least do one as a giveaway then?

  2. Way to improvise on your list! I would have picked baking over reading a classic anyday...shhh don't tell! Looks like a lot of help went into making that pound cake. I'm wondering if you get enough commments begging Aunt Karen for the recipe...if she'll change her mind?! :)

  4. Oh no, I can't believe the recipe is top secret. It does look good. Please let Aunt Karen know, the more the recipe is used the better hers will taste. It's the Good Baking Karma rule. I think this would be a perfect opportunity for a giveaway : )

Are you going to have a runner's corner where we can meet, or a day to show up and drink water together and wipe our brow while discussing our new calf muscles?

  8. A pound cake that takes 4 people to make...,.sounds good to me. Actually, I love when everyone is in the kitchen working together, it just says family to me.
I sent a recipe into Sunset Magazine once that I made up myself for a citrus pound cake and it was published. Pretty fun huuh?
