Kin Folk!

I am from the South! We have kin folk...where most people have relatives!
While you may have images of this....
we are doing our best to be a little more sophisticated...and without all the millions, of course.
I thought I'd take a little time this year to blog about some of the folk that I am kin to.
So now...won't you...
Come and listen to a story about a man named ~ Uncle Dan!
He is my Mom's little brother. She was a teenager when he was born.
I was a little girl when he was a teenager. It was so great to have a teenage uncle.
When he was in College he would come to visit us...all my friends loved to play with him. He would chase us around...and the best thing of all was when he would hold me by the arms and spin me around and around. He drove a really cool, green VW Scirocco and he could play Puff the Magic Dragon on his guitar.

When I was a teenager, he got married to Aunt Sue. You will meet her sometime too. I was a bridesmaid in their wedding. A few years later they had a baby girl, Meghan...then a baby boy, Michael.
When I was in college, I loved going to visit them for the weekend....and playing with their babies ...and spinning them around and around.

Uncle Dan is very tall. He has a black belt in Karate. He is the most fabulous cook and makes the best chutney in the world. He is funny. He loves to read. He loves to fish...and taught us how to gut and clean them. Eewwwh! He works hard and is extremely giving. He is not proud or judgemental. He is gentle and kind. Kids are great judges of character and my kids trust him fully. He even persuaded Zac to taste sushi...and he loved it.

Now his children are young adults and teenagers...and my kids love to play with them.
Mostly..they love to be with Uncle Dan!

Did you have a favorite relative that you looked forward to spending time with as a kid?

Kin Folk....it's who we are made of.
Enjoy the day!
