Set Apart!

She is the one that stands out!
The one in the middle, with the only different colored jersey!
She is amazing...and she needs to be reminded!
 God's word is truth!
He is faithful to finish what He starts!
Believe!

Sometimes we have to go through a lot of mess to realize where it is that God wants to take us! Emily struggled and wrestled with some things this summer that caused her to take inventory of many things in her life. Her friendships...some healthy, some not... Her goals...and whether or not she even had any...  and her responsibilities....to her family, friends, employer and herself.
After much hardship, she had to make some changes. She had to tell a dear friend that she could no longer spend time with her because it was not good for either of them. She had to apologize to some important people in her life, her parents and her brothers. She had to make some decisions about who it is that she wants to be...really be...not pretend to be. And she did!
And we have seen the change in her! It has been amazing.
And just last night, we were sharing about these struggles with our dear friends. Both of them remarked about a time recently when we ran into them at a restaurant. They agreed they had noticed that night that Emily seemed different. She looked different...peaceful and lighter. Praise God!
She notices it too. She believes!
We believe too and we are so grateful!

  1. PTL! I could not be a parent without the guidance of our Heavenly Father. I don't think I have ever prayed as much as I have since becoming a Mother.
I am still a little terrified when I think of the coming teenage years, though... :)

  3. Finally, someone is posting a good teenager post! It seems like all I see is people saying how rotten their teens are and how hard it is to parent them, it was making me a wreck thinking about what is to come! I hope she continues on this lovely path.

  5. Love this Jen! So happy for Emily...making good choices at that age (or any age) is so hard...it's so awesome that she is leaning on her faith and family to lead her in the rigth direction. You guys are wonderful parents.

  7. I agree with Holly, this made me cry. Such a sweet post. Your daughter is so beautiful, and so brave. At that age, it's hard to tell someone you can't hang around them...what a brave and bold decision for her. I pray for your sweet daughter. Growing up is hard!
