Move over bacon?

Today is alphabe-Thursday.
The letter is M. Hmmmmm.
The only thing that came to my mind every time I thought about this writing assignment was the saying from an old Sizzlean commercial many years ago.
"Move over bacon...now there's something leaner."

Why in the world would I be thinking of that? I really couldn't get past it.
So....I decided to work through it.

Other than the bacon thing...I've been thinking a lot lately, like most I'm sure, about my hopes and goals for the new year! I am really not one to make resolutions because I learned long ago that doing so can lead to frustration and disappointment when I don't follow through....and sometimes I don't even get started.

But the one thing I know that I want for this year is .....MORE!
Not more stuff or more money, more friends or more obligations, or even more organization....
When I say MORE, I mean "leaner".....meatier, bigger, better, more meaningful and more satisfying.
Geeez....I guess that's what everyone wants, huh?

Now the question is "how do I go about moving the bacon (which is already yummy and fabulous) to get to the meatier more satisfying MORE that I am searching for?
The funny thing is...I think the answer starts with LESS.
Less running around and fewer obligations to gain more freedom, less spending to equal more saving, less clutter to gain more organization, less worry and stress, less saying "Yes".

Does anyone else long for less to get MORE?
There is something so attractive about playing it simple, don't you think?

Of course, I still have goals to make and dreams to dream for this new year of possibilities ...2011.
I just want to move ahead with caution...slowly,carefully and prayerfully....
before I get so crazy busy that I just eat the bacon and keep on running.

Have a great Thursday!
Live Intentionally!

  2. What a great resolution! I think you're onto something. Once you slow down and pare back, the little things can shine. Keep us posted on how you're doing with this.

  3. Hi Jen - yes yes yes ... I really do need to find the path to LESS - simpler is so much better ... more manageable, less overwhelming, etc. And for me, I'm not just talking about purging the "stuff", but also the schedule, the commitments, etc ... I've been drowning lately, so I'm all for less!! Love it!

If you did eat the bacon, though, you'd probably want to run more, too! ;)

  7. I agree Jen...less definately means more of the good stuff. We simplified this Christmas and made more time for what really matters. It was one of the best Christmas' we've ever had. I'm hoping to carry this into the New Year!

  10. You blew my socks off with this post, Jen...especially your sign-off "Live Intentionally!"

I spent way too many years just letting life take whatever direction it wanted. I've decided I need to make an effort to guide my life where I need it to go.

    Have a great day! La
