My Mom did this when I was growing up...and now I do it too.
After the kitchen is all cleaned up from dinner....
dishes put away....and counter wiped clean with 409,
I light the candle in the middle of the stove.
It is to send a message.
The same message that it sent to me when I was little.
The kitchen is closed!
Not gonna say I'm turning into my Mom,
It is still snowing on my blog, yes....so it seems in these photos
that it is snowing in my kitchen. I think I'll keep the snow around a
little longer 'cause we don't get enough around here as it is.
I like the pretty snowfall in your kitchen, jen! My mom used to do this too with the candle ... and I can't even believe that I haven't adopted it yet, you're a genius!! Now I'll have to add a candle to my BBB list (right after the tervis) ;-)
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea!!! I wonder if it would keep my husband from his late night snack of pork rinds and whatever else he can find!!
ReplyDeleteLove that idea, now if only it would work on my husband who gets up during the night and gets himself something to eat...
ReplyDeleteI love your kitchen and dining area. They look so warm and inviting!
Love this...I hate that chorus of "I'm hungry"...after dessert is done and cleaned up!
ReplyDeleteAnd the snow in the kitchen is a keeper!!
Enjoy the night
Still lovin those open shelves!!!:)
Love it! I only wish I could get my kitchen this clean!! I'm working on it!
ReplyDeleteI love the snow too! So awesome! Love your kitchen!
ReplyDeleteLove this idea! And your kitchen! :)
ReplyDeleteI need this to keep ME out of the kitchen!!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome! What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteOh I need to adopt this. The visual of the candle is a great reminder to stay out of the cabinets/fridge. Love it.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of the candle. It creates such a nice... don't you dare come in here and make a mess... mood. Love it!
ReplyDeleteDana
Does that actually work to keep your kids from getting a million drinks of water? That drives me crazy! I think I'll give this idea a try tonight.
ReplyDeletelove the snow falling and I am always saying the kitchen is closed! I like your idea with the candle..might have to try that!!
ReplyDeleteLove this idea. I always announce "kitchen is closed" but it seems that my family needs a visual reminder. I'm going to have to copycat this one. :)
ReplyDeleteLove this idea! Do your kids get an evening/bedtime snack? Brady always thinks he needs a snack around 7:30...drives me crazy!
ReplyDeleteI love that idea - very charming! Wish I'd heard about it when the kids were still around!
