So glad to see this shade of blue!

It's the craziest thing! Last year my hydrangea plant did not bloom at all. I don't know what in the world I must have done, but it just  grew green leaves or stalks or  branches or whatever you call them...but no blooms. I wondered if it would ever bloom again.

I had the best intentions to go by the local nursery to ask them about my sick hydrangea. Of course, I just never got around to doing that. Thought about calling...never did that either.

So...this spring when the leaves started to sprout, I waited in wonder and then one day I saw this.  I got so excited....but I couldn't be sure.
Until a few weeks later when I saw this. Then I was sure.
And now, we have this! Isn't it fabulous!
The blooms are a little heavy so they fall to the ground in front.
Without a year of no blooms at all...I would not be nearly as excited!
And the best part is that I have already cut at least 20 blooms off of this beauty to pass on to teachers, neighbors and friends. I also added a few gardenia blossoms to give them a super sweet smell!
Absolutely loving this shade of blue!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Hey! If you haven't already heard...I am having a giveaway.

  3. I love hydrangeas. They are so beautiful. They remind me of the movie "It's A Wonderful Life" as well. You know when she runs in to the hydrangea bush because her robe fell off?

  6. Those are beautiful! What a coincidence, I just asked my sister-in-law, who is a landscape designer, why my hydrangea isn't blooming yet. I just planted it last year and it's growing a lot, just no buds or blossoms. I hope mine will look as beautiful as yours :)

  17. beautiful!!! i have been a bit hydrangea obsessed here too...i have planted a few in the past, the ones at Easter time, but they never flower...i think because the winters are too harsh here in the NorthEast. But this year our local greenhouse is carrying a hardier kind..so we have been ripping out the old hedges and planting hydrangeas like crazy...now i just hope they survive the first winter!!! your look amazing!!! and now you have me wondering if i can grow a gardenia here..

  18. The exact same thing happened to me a few years back. It just never bloomed..when it always had in the past. Then the next year, Bam! It bloomed as normal. This year one of my hydrangeas has the CRAZIEST deep purple/blue blooms you've ever seen. I'll have to take a picture. I've never seen them this color before.

    Hydrangeas. Love.
