Chicken Wire Wonderland!

Have you ever seen anything like this?

Earlier this week, we spent a few days in my hometown.
There is a fabulous little neighborhood full of older, charming, magnificant homes not far from where I grew up that does something a little different in the way of Christmas decorations.

It started out small...a few houses got involved.
One family began teaching other people how to make these balls of lights out of chicken wire. The fever spread and now after many years, streets and streets of houses participate in what you might call a chicken wire wonderland.  There is so much Christmas traffic in the neighborhood each year that a few houses have canned food collection bins. Last night we even saw 2 little girls running a hot chocolate stand.

It is hard to explain...and the photos are no indication of the awe and wonder and magic that you feel when driving through this wonderland, but I had to share it with you anyway!

Every corner that you turn just takes your breath away. It is so beautiful.

We have driven through in the daytime once....looks like an electrical disaster waiting to happen...extension cords and wires and ropes and such hanging all over the place.....but let's not dwell on that.
It just proves that a huge amount of work, everyone helping each other, must be done every year to give our little town the most amazing display of Christmas joy and goodness.

We are thankful for another year that we could experience the wonder of it all!
Hoping you are sharing in the wonder too.
